Originally from Leeds John was educated at the universities of Oxford, York and London.

He developed his coaching style during his career as a freelance Business English communications trainer, working internationally across sectors including academia, business, civil service, education, government, journalism, trade unions & politics. 

In 2005 he delivered a presentation to the Business English conference at Monaco University highlighting the bridge between interactive training and coaching. Since then he has continued in the freelance and voluntary area as a coach and writer.
